Shop Manufacturing Assistant

Interstate Sign Company is looking for a dependable, skilled shop employee to join our team as a Shop Manufacturing Assistant. This is a full-time, in-person position focused on fabrication, assembly, vinyl application, and general shop work.

If you enjoy hands-on work, solving problems, and being part of a team that takes ownership of what they produce, this is a great fit for you.

What You’ll Do

Fabricate and assemble sign components
Apply vinyl graphics with precision
Assist with general shop production and workflow
Perform basic electrical wiring (12-volt circuits, power supplies, switches)
Read shop drawings and measure accurately
Operate shop tools and equipment safely and efficiently
Maintain a clean, organized, and functional work environment

What We’re Looking For

Strong work ethic and dependability
Team-oriented mindset and willingness to take direction
Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
Problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to learn and improve

Experience in sign production, fabrication, or welding (MIG/TIG) is a plus, but not required.

Tools & Equipment You’ll Use

Radial saws, band saws, and jig saws
Drills, grinders, and hand tools
Various shop equipment used in sign manufacturing

Work Environment

This role is active and hands-on, requiring standing, lifting, and consistent movement throughout the day. Tasks may include bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, carrying, climbing, and handling materials safely.

We prioritize a safe, organized shop and expect all team members to always follow proper safety procedures.

Schedule & Benefits

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM with lunch and regular breaks built in.

Location: 1990 Rockford St. Mount Airy, NC 27030
